 In 1754 St Andrews became the 3rd oldest instituted golf club in the world and is now known as the home of Golf. St Andrews was also home of the oldest club makers where the manufacture of balls and clubs were first started.  The same company can still be seen today in St Andrews. The St Andrews Golf Company was established in 1881.  St Andrews has the one course that all golfers wish to play, That being the Old Course. Golf in Scotland is available to all, to play the oldest course in the world all you need is a wedge, putter and ball go to the first tee and play no booking free play 18 holes. Seen below near the church spire

Golf Scotland History

The first established Golf club and the first open championship course. Where Willie Park lived and where the first rules of golf were written, see the first place a competition was played to rules. From the west of Edinburgh to Musselburgh in East Lothian where Tom Morris Snr and Jnr won Open Championships.
